Biography

Emma Schoeffler is an artist and filmmaker who is currently studying film at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, she is enjoying the bustle of New York, but misses her dog at home. In fine arts, she primarily uses oil paints, but also works in ink and charcoal. She utilizes her fine arts background when it comes to filmmaking, allowing her knowledge of art to inform her aesthetic choices. Emma has experience with various modes of analog filmmaking, including shooting 16 and 35mm film, drawing on film, and editing analog film. She also has experience with digital filmmaking both in production and post-production, and is particularly passionate about directing, cinematography, and color-grading. A theatre kid for many years, Emma takes her experience on the stage with her when she directs, using it to inform the way she communicates with actors. Some of her favorite filmmakers include Agnès Varda and Alfred Hitchcock, but you will also find her enjoying Greta Gerwig's films and the comedy of Lucille Ball. In her free time, Emma enjoys reading, learning languages, and singing.
